The Searcher -- E-Book!

I am very pleased to announce that The Searcher, my first children's book is now available in e-book form. It is a multi-touch title, with very cool sound effects (some of them performed by yours truly!); loads of sketches from the illustrations in the book and ones that didn't make it into the book; and some animation as well. I hope this new format will reach many more readers, exposing them to my work and love of adventure! Click here, or on the image to go to the store and download the free sample. The Searcher is very affordable at $1.99. Please be sure to leave a review. Thank you, and ENJOY!!

January 2013 Oregon Business Magazine Feature Article Illustration

Howdy everyone. I hope your holidays were terrific. We were very busy, but we had a wonderful couple of months. Lots of old friends and family visits.

Before Thanksgiving I got a call from the art director at the Oregon Business Magazine asking me if I was interested in another job with them. Of course I said yes. This month's feature article is about the legislative issues that will be discussed at the capitol in Salem this year.

You can go and read the online article on the Oregon Business Magazine site.

Here is a video that shows many of the sketches, and also the final artwork I created for the project:

Be sure to check out the page I built describing the job on my website, I created some really cool animated characters for it.

Check back here soon for some EXCITING NEWS about my children's book The Searcher!

OregonBusiness Magazine September 2012

Spot Roughs OregonBusiness Magazine from ryanloghry.

These are the roughs for the spot illustrations that I did for the September 2012 feature article in OregonBusiness Magazine(and here is a link to the article). The job took two weeks from start to finish. The first week I did all the roughs (2 for each concept, for a total of 10), and the second week I did the final versions and handled a few revisions. Below are the roughs and the final version of the main illustration:

Exploring China

Exploring China Trailer from ryanloghry.

Hi everyone! From mid August to a week or so before Christmas I was working on this book trailer/book project "Exploring China". The trailer is finished (with a huge praise and thank you to David Walters over at fogpuddle.com for helping me fix a big timing issue). The music was produced by Donevan Karr, GREAT JOB Donevan!

As always let me know what you think, don't be afraid to hit that comment button. Enjoy

Lucky Lincoln

I was hired by the band Lucky Lincoln to create the art for their new cd (titled the same as the band name). The job was a dream to work on, lots of fun to draw, a creative concept from the clients to start with, and everyone was happy when the job was finished. Yay! Below is the illustration for the inside of the packaging.

First Maya animation

I started studying Maya (3D animation software for those who don't know) last week. I have been working through many tutorial to get a grasp of how things work so I can use it to animate a book trailer for my latest book project (more on that later). Anywho, here is a link to a "Playblast" which is a shaded quick render of the animation I just finished. The first step of many. One of the hiccups, or mistakes is, the rotations of the planets around the Sun have ease as a default, causing the planets to slow down as they finish the animation, I didn't realize that 'til I rendered. (And yes I know there are more moons than I've got in my solar system. Expediency trumps accuracy in this case.) Another thing to know is no matter what I did to the render settings, the file was 100 meg. Giant file I know, sorry bout that. Let me know what you think. Don't be afraid to leave a comment.
