Illustration Friday

Howard happily herded hoards of heifers, hour after hour.

The topic this week was "Hoard", which I stretched to include "Hoards".

LOL!!! I LOVE IT!! This is so funny and cute Ryan. Howard looks as though he's had a bit of JD with his lunch, though. And the heifers...they seem unmoved by his antics.

Thanks Kate! We have cows on the farm here, and most of the time, they have a very disinterested look on their faces. Also note that the cows drawn aren't heifers, they're longhorns, which are a lot more fun to draw.

As for this illustration, I'm not real pleased with it. The foreground is so empty, it just doesn't feel finished to me. But, I couldn't think of anything to put in there, that wouldn't look like I was just jamming something in. So, I didn't. 8 )

It looks finished to me. I love the illustration.

Ryan - it wold tell a whole different story if there was a rattlesnake in the forground! But it did not really bother me that there is nothing going on in the forground right now - it made the illustration a little more quirky, in my opinion.

Longhorn, huh? Yes, I see that now that you mention it.

I once had a head-one collision with another car and totaled mine in front of a heard of cows. They just looked at me and kept eating, as my car bled antifreeze all over the road. They seem rather stoic. Or maybe just *dumb*.

I was going to say the exact opposite Ryan. I love the background! The fact that is white as it it and then has that landscape behind it makes it so damm interesting... The white space is valuable as it makes the horse pop too.

Call me crazy then.. but I LOVE it. So don't be so hard on yourself.. Geez... ;o)

I agree with Alicia, I also love the white in the foreground (but you have probably noticed that about me, there's always a lot of white in the stuff I do!)
Love your horse too!
