May 30, 2008

This drawing was done whilst I spent some time with my friends' kid. He would suggest subject matter, and I would draw it for him. It went something like this:
"What if... there was a alligator."
"Okay... an alligator."
"Yeah."
* scribble-scribble *
"Yeah. I like that. Giant alligator."
"Okay, let's make him a giant. How bout if he's eating a car?"
"Yeah, I like that. Rar. RAAAAAR!!!"
5 minutes later...
" ...RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRR!!!!!!"
"Okay, what else?"
"Pummah mounans."
"What?"
"PUM-MAH MOU-NANS." Said with emphasis, to aid my stupidity.
"Huh."
"Purple Mountains." Translation provided by parent. It seems purple mountains majesty was in some song the kiddies were singing in pre-school. Anywho, it went on like that. We drew a screaming family inside the car, but then decided they looked to scared, so we wished them out of the car to Candy Cane Island...

Hey Alicia! Thanks, this was a fun drawing to do.

I never had kids of my own, so I appreciate my friends' children. I look forward to the day when they can come and camp out, or spend the night at Uncle Ryan's house in the country.

Looks like the car is doomed either way: If the croc doesn't get it, looks like it will surely plummet, as the road heads pretty steeply downward. Kids have such great ideas. Hey, maybe there could be a family of crash test dummies int he car.

"Purple mountains majesty"?? That is from "America The Beautiful". Remember??

Kate - I wondered if anyone would name that tune. 8 )

I knew what song it was once it was translated for me. Then we sang a bit of it as I drew in the mountains.

Thanks Paola!

Well you sure sound like a fun uncle, I bet they will! :o)

Besides you can now build them cool ramps for their skateboards too, right? ;o)

haha... that's right Alicia. My dad was shredding it up when I went by there last night after work. ; )

For those not in the know, I built a wheel chair ramp at my parents' house a couple weeks ago, and Alicia is a wise-cracker from way back.

This is a great idea. I get tired of playing i-spy, so I am going to try this instead. You made me laugh. Try buying your Moleskines online. I can never find them in the store either. :)
