May 30, 2008 Illustration Friday

The topic this week is Worry.

Meet Mr. and Mrs. Worrywart. Frank has heavy bags under his eyes because he gets very little sleep, due to excessive worry. He wears high-water pants in case there is a flood; and he's working on an ulcer. Vera is almost housebound, venturing out only for groceries and the mail. Today we see them cautiously making their way from the bedroom to the kitchen for breakfast. Anything could happen you know, anything at all.

in belated response to your question about the orphan works bill, I'm really not sure when it gets decided on, but i think it might be soon...? i'm sure the verdict will circulate the blogs eventually!

They are great and the story behind them too. You did a wonderful job because they truly look like you are describing them to be!

Poor guys... good thing they didn't have kids.. well I hope they didn't that is. ;o)

Hey everyone! Thanks for the comments.

Lil Kim -- I read somewhere that Google is supporting the Orphan Works act, I was very disapppionted to hear that.

Alicia -- Good grief no, Frank and Vera have no kids, it would be too much to worry about. 8 )

Hi Ryan,

thanks for your comments. I use CS2 but it should work in any version of Photoshop. If you have your sketch on a bottom layer, and then paint on an upper layer that is set to 'multiply' you should see the colour 'paint over' the sketch in all the white areas. Let me know if that doesn't make sense.

I am not in Portland, but i used to be! (i'm in Melbourne Australia now) - but my parents live in Vancouver, WA too!! small world! (I usually just call it 'portland' because 'Vancouver' makes people think it's Canada)

hope the weather is getting more springlike there! Here we are descending into winter...

I do applaud Mr. & Mrs. W for braving the perilous path to the kitchen despite their intense fear. Great illustration! :)
