April 7, 2008 Illustration Friday
The theme this week for Illustration Friday is Save. I see there are lots of other piggy bank entries. I always try to think of something different, then when I post I see my idea at least 5 or 6 times over.
Yes, this weeks IF is quite a good one - it can be interpreted in different ways, but I can see how the money-saving theme is a popular one. I like this piggy bank :)
Thanks for the comment on my blog. Yes, I have tried MOO stickers, just because I was curious like you are - but only two of the four designs I used actually came out well because the stickers are so small (even though they looked ok on the on-screen preview). That said, I would definately have them made up again though, just using different designs.
There are indeed lots of piggy banks this week, but none quite like this. This little piggie seems so delighted by those coins, doesn't it make you want to fill him up with savings? Nicely done.
The alkyd oils I use are by Winsor & Newton. They simply have an alkyd medium additive already mixed in the paint. They dry lightning fast (for oils...not like acrylic) ...like say I finished a painting tonight, it would be dry in the morning. Just answering your question...you should try them, they are really nice, and I don't notice any difference in overall quality.
Thanks everyone for your comments, I really appreciate your support. 8)
Thanks Chicken, I appreciate the info on Moo. I hadn't even considered the size of the stickers, and how well a drawing would hold up that small.
Candace, thanks for the alkyd oils info. I've used medium with my regular oil paints before and didn't like the mixing as I always had too much or too little. Maybe I'll give the alkyd oils a try. You guys should go check out Candace's "Save" entry for Illustration Friday, it's very cool.

Ha ha. Very nice. I could see this in a magazine about a bank eating peoples savings or a company eating peoples investments. . .
Good stuff.

This is great! I like the added touch of the piggy eating the coin! Nice job!

There might be other piggy bank entries Ryan.. but none of them are eating their savings!

I know what you mean, I'm working on a piggy bank entry right now...oh well. They are all totally different though, nice job!!
Yes, but each is unique! Great job on the prompt!
Don't worry, yours is different. Really nice switch.
