Thanks Kstyles. I really wish that I'd had more time. I would have liked to have put in a hint of the croc's other arm, and maybe made the hippo a little fatter, to help sell the extremes theme.

I really like this - glad I clicked it to see the larger image - caught a lot more of the detail in the rendering - very nice! Good take on the topic!

Thanks for all your comments folks, I appreciate your coming to view my post.

Bee'nme: I decided to use the smaller images on my main page, and link to a larger image to shorten load times, and to keep the page clean looking.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and for your kind comment. I like your illustration too!

As for my colors, I actually do have a system. In Photoshop, I decide on a few basic swatches, usually starting with bright ones on one layer, then on an upper layer, I choose one unifiying color that I blend in to the swatches underneath using one of the blending modes, like Multiply, Overlay, Soft Light or Hard Light. Then I add black or white to get shades and values from that. This gives a nice set of cohesive colors. Someday I'll do a diagram and a tutorial on this.

Hope this helps?
