December 14, 2007 Animation
Philneus Blarbin walks and thinks. And thinks and walks. Thinking of inventions to make the world a better place for the humons. He likes to help the humons.
I noodled up this animation yesterday, an off day for me. I have a bazillion things I should have been working on, but did this for fun instead. I hope to do more of this animation, but I've had to take another day job, and doubt I'll have the time for it. As always thank you for stopping by, and be sure to visit my website at ryanloghry.com, and my retail site at ookybizniz.com.

The topic this week is Little Things. I really enjoy imagining the story behind images like this. I think that's what will make me a good children's book writer and illustrator some day. As always I hope you will visit my website to view more examples of my work at www.ryanloghry.com, and please visit my retail store at www.ookybizniz.com, thank you for visiting.

Well as some of you may have heard last week we had some flooding here in the Pacific Northwest. The damage here where I live was minimal, but we were without internet access for several days which caused me to miss my first Illustration Friday since starting back in September. I wanted to share this with you though, because I felt it fit the theme of EXCESS so well. We definitely had an excess of rain here. I would like to point out that there were thousands of people more harshly effected than I was here, and they deserve your sympathy much more than I. The people in and around Chehalis and Centralia, Washington were hit very hard. As always I hope you will visit my website to view more examples of my work at www.ryanloghry.com, and please visit my retail store at www.ookybizniz.com and pick yourself up a tshirt, or something nice. And have a Merry Christmas!

Christmas Bazaar
Last Friday I participated in a Christmas bazaar to raise money for Dornbecker Children's Hospital in Portland, Oregon. I took some copies of my children's book The Searcher (still looking for a publisher), some refrigerator magnets, and some t-shirts. I sold two magnets. Nothing else sold. Some might view this as a failure, but I don't. I think every little bit helps. I think we have to keep doing things to help those around us. I hear a lot of people talking about how messed up the world is today, I think it's up to us to make it better. So does Ooky. "Ook-ook!"

Merry Christmas!
Hello everyone, and I hope your enjoying the holiday season this year. Each year I do a Christmas card, and the last couple of years I've included a Christmas animation as well. They vary in quality depending on the time I had, and the complexity of the animation. This year I was pressed for time with all my new responsibilities, and the flooding we had here in Washington state put a kink in my week for sure. But I finished, and am excited to share it with you all. Click here to view my yearly Christmas page, there you can view my card, and the previous years content. This year I've posted to YouTube as well, to try and drive more traffic to my retail site, and to get my name out there. Marketing is a big part of being a freelance illustrator. As always I hope you will visit my website to view more examples of my work at www.ryanloghry.com, and please visit my retail store at www.ookybizniz.com and pick yourself up a tshirt, or something nice. Below is a link to the video posted on YouTube. Enjoy, and Merry Christmas everyone!!

Once again the doctor's waiting room proves to be a great place to sketch. My father spent a night in the hospital this week(he's okay now, they sent him home the next day), and while waiting to see him I sketched this simple Christmas scene. This fellow is very happy that his father is okay. Click on the image to see a larger version. Be sure to visit my site ryanloghry.com, and my new retail store ookybizniz.com. And as always, thank you for visiting.

Water1st.org charity event.
This is a drawing I did for the annual Water1st.org charity auction, on November 16th. Water1st provides clean water solutions to needy villages in third world countries. The dinner and auction were a lot of fun, both of the drawings I donated sold for above the assessed value, and helped raise much needed funds. As always, click on the image to see it larger. And let me know what you think of this illustration.

This week's topic was Superstition. This immediately made me think of ralley caps in baseball. I'm a big baseball fan, and I have to admit that more than once I have resorted to the ralley cap when my team is down in late innings. I really wanted this to be a full color illustration, but I just didn't have time. With all the holiday work I'm doing, I just didn't have time. Maybe some time in the future I'll come back to it. As always, click on the image to see a larger version, and be sure to check out my website ryanloghry.com. And thank you for stopping by.
